Classroom Lessons

In order to reach ALL students, I will be going into each classroom once a month to teach a lesson.

*Parents: Be on the lookout for a handout each month describing what your child has been learning and how you can continue the discussion/practice at home! You can also find an introduction to each month's character trait under the resource section.

Small Group Counseling

Small group counseling sessions will be available throughout the year. Topics will vary depending on the needs in the building, but they can include the following:

- Friendship

- Social skills

- conflict Resolution

- Self-regulation

- Family change

- Anxiety/Worry management

- Anger management

- Grief and loss

- Study skills

Students can be referred for small group by teachers, school staff, and parents. If you have questions about small group counseling, or would like your student to participate in one, please contact me.

Individual Counseling

School Counselors also work with students on an individual basis to help them deal with and work through a problem that is bothering the student and/or negatively affecting the student's learning.

Individual counseling offers needed support to guide the child through a problem area. Individual counseling varies in order to meet the various needs of the child.

In individual counseling we deal with:

- building trust and creating a relationship with the student

- teaching and learning problem solving skills

- teaching and practicing appropriate social skills

- developing coping skills

- providing extra attention to facilitate self-respect and confidence

- helping the child to understand his/her behavior choices and the consequences

- providing support for academic skills

Students can be referred for individual counseling by teachers, school staff, and parents. If you have questions about individual counseling, or would like to discuss how that would work for your student, please contact me.
